Storytellers show fairy tales don’t always have happy ending
May 1, 2014
The darker side of fairy tales will be revealed with a May 13 presentation at the DeKalb Public Library.
Judith Heineman and Daniel Marcotte, Road Scholars with the Illinois Humanities Council, will present fairy tales as told by the Grimm Brothers at 7 p.m. in the lower level meeting room of the library, 309 Oak St.
Heineman and Marcotte will provide dramatic retellings of the stories, sharing some of the tales through ballads. The event will also feature music in the form of a 16th century Renaissance lute accompanied by French and English ballads.
The free event is part of the Illinois Humanities Council’s Road Scholars Speakers Bureau, which seeks to provide thought-provoking entertainment.
