Women’s hoops adds EIU transfer
April 23, 2014
Women’s basketball announced the addition of redshirt senior guard Katlyn Payne, who will transfer to NIU from Eastern Illinois University.
Payne, of St. Charles, will be eligible to play with the Huskies in the 2014-15 season. She will graduate from EIU this spring and transfer to NIU this summer to enter the public administration master’s program.
Payne averaged 13.8 points per game, which was second-most on EIU, in 28 starts during the 2013-14 season. She scored in double digits in 23 games, and she posted 20-or-more points on four occasions last season.
Payne shot .415 (124-of-299) from the floor and .405 (79-of-195) from beyond the arc, which ranked second in the Ohio Valley Conference and 27th in the NCAA last season.
Payne will be one of four newcomers to NIU in 2014-15. She joins freshmen Georgia Breunig (Sauk Prairie, Wis./Sauk Prairie), Renee Sladik (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) and Kelly Smith (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead).
