Three arrested in weekend meth lab bust

Police discovery of a meth lab led to three arrests and the evacuation of apartments around the lab Friday.
At about 1:30 p.m., DeKalb Police officers went to 418 N. 11th St., Apartment 3, to speak to residents as part of an ongoing drug investigation. The officers immediately observed what they thought to be an active methamphetamine lab, according to a news release.
The Illinois State Police Meth Response Team collected and preserved the evidence that was located, according to the release. No injuries occurred during the incident. The investigation is continuing and may result in further arrests.
Michael J. Dumiak, 30, of DeKalb; Malgorzata M. Dutkowska, 25, of DeKalb; and Jennifer A. Simpson, 32, of DeKalb, were each charged with aggravated participation in the production of methamphetamine (class X felony), participation in the production of methamphetamine (class 1 felony) and possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials (class 2 felony). Dumiak faces an additional charge of unlawful use of property.
All three have been charged in prior meth-related incidents.
