Athlete arrested for missing court
March 30, 2014
Sophomore Travon Baker, a member of the men’s basketball team, was arrested at about 3 p.m. Thursday by NIU Police on an in-state warrant.
Associate Athletics Director Donna Turner said Baker’s arrest was related to a missed court appearance for driving with a suspended license.
“Athletics is aware of Travon’s situation,” Turner said. “He was taken in after missing a court appearance. The administration and Coach [Mark] Montgomery will be addressing the situation and will take appropriate action.”
Baker was the starting point guard for men’s basketball this season. He averaged 32 percent shooting this past season while playing in 32 games, starting 31 of them.
