The Department of English has been ranked ninth nationwide for its graduate programs for career support by graduateprograms.com.

Using a 10-star system, rankings were compiled from student comments and rankings posted on the website.

The career support category accounts for the quality of support received during and after a student’s time in graduate school along with the quality of resources.

Mark Van Wienen, English graduate studies director, said the combination of classroom instruction with personal attention to the goals of their students made the program more focused on the students, according to NIU Today.
