Get tattoos now to enjoy summer
March 31, 2014
Whether to reflect one’s personality or to remind someone of a good memory, a tattoo is the perfect way to express yourself, and April is the perfect month to make this addition to your body.
Most tattoo artists tell customers it takes about four weeks for their tattoos to heal. Because students will have to be careful in the sun and should not be in pools after getting a tattoo, get one now.
“Yes, business increases at this time,” said tattoo artist Aaron Wassner, who works at Proton Tattoo, 120 S. Fourth St. “People are getting their taxes back and the weather is getting nicer. But February, March and April are the bigger months.”
Recovery time varies depending on a tattoo’s size, detail, color and shading. Having to wait four weeks to heal is a huge reason why people who desire to get tattoos should be sure to get it this month.
For those who have never gotten a tattoo, know that some tattoos require multiple visits. The technique, style, time and effort of the consumer and artist can result in a second visit to complete the design. A second visit may be necessary for line work cleanup or re-shading areas.
While healing from a fresh tattoo, people are prone to infections and should avoid pools, hot tubs and extensive amount of sunlight. Keep swimming and sunbathing in mind when hankering for some body art.
“If [the tattoos] are taken care of and the people follow our techniques, there is no difference between getting something in black versus color,” Wassner said.
Tattoos can also complement this season’s clothing. Wearing something that’s slightly more revealing can highlight the attributes of the tattoo design even if the whole piece isn’t exposed.
Tank tops for men and women can complement an arm or a shoulder tattoo. Going shirtless or wearing a bikini is the next step for arm, chest and back pieces. Change the wardrobe accordingly to emphasize your body’s new accessory.
Appointment books fill up as students finish their cold school year and get ready to show some skin. Walk-ins aren’t always going to be available, so scheduling is highly recommended.
If you’re interested in getting a tattoo, get one now so you can show it off over the summer.
