Rowling crushes Potter fans
February 3, 2014
I shed tears while burning my “Harry Potter” books after hearing J.K. Rowling wanted to split Ron and Hermione.
Rowling’s confession was as a big of a mistake as the death of Fred Weasley. If Hermione and Ron aren’t supposed to be together, what about Harry and Ginny?
“I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfilment. That’s how it was conceived, really,” Rowling said in a yet-to-be-published interview with Wonderland magazine. “For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.”
One of the most satisfying moments in the series was when Hermione finally kissed Ron at the end of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” My heart was at peace knowing they’d live happily ever after. Jo, how could you do this me?
The interview was conducted by Emma Watson. When Rowling admitted her regrets about the beloved Romione, she was very clear they shouldn’t have been together.
“I think there are fans out there who know that too and who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy,” Watson said, agreeing with Rowling on the relationship.
Well, excuse me, but Ron’s struggling emotional range doesn’t call for such comments. The nerve.
Rowling also said Hermione and Ron would have eventually needed relationship counseling in their marriage. Well, yeah, she had the hots for his best friend.
One thing Rowling doesn’t mention and which is quite the elephant in the room is Ginny Weasley.
If Harry belongs with Hermione, then what is up with Ginny? Where does that leave her — married to her Yule Ball date, Neville Longbottom? On the other hand, take a look at Matthew Lewis. That’s not a bad ending if you ask me.
The full Wonderland interview won’t release until Thursday, so hold your magical breath until then. You never know what Rowling will say next.
