Fallon writes last thank you
February 5, 2014
Jimmy Fallon’s time as host of “Late Night” is down to its final shows. Here are a few of his best sketches, ones that I hope Fallon takes with him to the “Tonight Show.”
5. Songs with only office supplies
When Fallon and The Roots do any of these songs, they are stuck in my head for the rest of the week. It’s amazing how they can make hit songs like “Call Me Maybe,” “Blurred Lines” and my personal favorite “We Can’t Stop” using simple office supplies.
I love how Fallon isn’t afraid to sing with the singer and he sometimes even sings louder than him or her. When the group sings “We Can’t Stop” Questlove does an amazing job of singing the opening. It sets the tone for how fantastic the song is going to be.
4. Ew
Fallon has done this sketch a few times, but the funniest was with Channing Tatum. Fallon and Tatum are both dressed as teenage girls and have a talk show in Sara’s (no h because h’s are ew) basement. Sara and her friend Susie discuss things that make them say ew, like tomatoes, flip flops and Diet Mountain Dew.
While they are ew-ing, Susie admits she has a crush on Dustin Hoffman and loves “Magic Mike.” During the girls’ talk show, Susie teaches Sara how to “hip-hip” dance, which is Tatum jumping up and down and making lots of hand movements.
3. “#Hashtag” with Justin Timberlake
Whenever Fallon and Justin Timberlake do anything together it’s guaranteed you will laugh. This video is no exception.
Fallon and Timberlake talk in tweets, ending everything with a hashtag. Toward the end of the sketch the two sing Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” and Missy Elliott’s “Work It” all in hashtags.
Once a week Fallon will send out a #latenighthashtag about topics like #myweirdwaiter, #awkwarddate and #momtexts. Fallon will read his favorite tweets to the audience.
When Fallon and announcer Steve Higgins talk about the tweets, they make up weird jokes making fun of the topic or person tweeting.
2. “Thank You Notes”
Fallon is a busy guy, so every Friday he makes out his “thank yous” for the week. He writes them out while dramatic music plays in the background so he can focus. Sometimes he thanks random celebrities or even objects. While he is writing them, Higgins is there trying to make Fallon laugh and make a fun sketch even better.
1.”Robert is Bothered”
In this sketch, Fallon dresses up like Robert Pattinson and talks about everything that bothers him.
Fallon has a fake English accent and dresses like Pattinson in the “Twilight” series.
“Pattinson” climbs into a tree to talk about everything bothering him that week. At the end of every video Pattinson’s girlfriend (a blow up doll with a brown wig on), joins him in the tree. She says something to bother him and gets kicked out.
