Pass/fail: Sorority hosts charity event, Flapy Bird game was distracting

By Shaz Sheikhali

Pass:

Charity event Sigma Soulmates was hosted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Carl Sandburg Auditorium.

Sigma Soulmates is hosted by the NIU Sigma Sigma Sigma chapter. It is a fantastic event that raises money for the Robbie Page Memorial, which funds play therapy for hospitalized children.

This philanthropy is a fun event where the attendees play a college version of “The Newlywed Game.”

Couples find out if they are compatible while raising money for a good cause.

I cannot wait to find out how much money Sigma Sigma Sigma was able to raise for Robbie Page Memorial.

Fail:

Too many people have been complaining about the Flappy Bird game being taken down.

I didn’t even know the game existed until a few days ago. Flappy Bird was a free smartphone game.

The gamer is allowed to control the altitude of a bird and help it pass through green pipes. It seems pointless, I know.

Students trying to get an eduction are not supposed to worry about some game that distracts them from their study time.

Put the tissues and ice cream buckets away. It is only a game. Play angry birds, watch a romantic comedy and, most importantly, write your papers.

Flappy Bird is not worth anyone’s tears.
