More charged in Travel Inn meth lab bust

Police have charged 13 more people who were involved in the manufacturing of meth at a Travel Inn room, and they expect to charge more.

The DeKalb Police Department discovered the meth lab on Oct. 27 at the Travel Inn, 1116 W. Lincoln Highway.

At the time, Thomas Wilkinson, Malgorzata Dutkowska, and Jeffrey Podjaski were charged with aggravated participation in methamphetamine manufacturing (Class X felonies).

State police and the DeKalb County State’s Attorney Office assisted city police as they investigated, leading to Wednesday’s charges. A Wednesday release said “additional individuals are expected to be charged as part of the methamphetamine manufacturing conspiracy.”

Out of the 13 who were charged, police have arrested Keith Kifer, Joseph Waldrop, Greg Hurst, Michael Dumiak and Jeremy Sebek.

Those charged are:

• Jerry W. Whitt, 33: aggravated participation in methamphetamine manufacturing (Class X)

• Jennifer A. Simpson, 32: methamphetamine precursor conspiracy (Class 2)

• Keith B. Kifer, 48, of Elgin: methamphetamine precursor conspiracy (Class 2)

• Joseph E. Waldrop, 30, of Elgin: methamphetamine precursor conspiracy (Class 2)

• Greg L. Hurst, 52, of DeKalb: methamphetamine precursor conspiracy (Class 2)

• Michael J. Dumiak, 30, of DeKalb: methamphetamine precursor conspiracy (Class 2)

• Carlos R. Tomas, 24, of Marion: methamphetamine precursor conspiracy (Class 2)

• William J. Buell, 32: methamphetamine precursor conspiracy (Class 2)

• Jeremy W. Sebek, 28, of Sandwich: methamphetamine precursor conspiracy (Class 2)

• Allan H. Brown, 46: methamphetamine precursor conspiracy (Class 2)

• Corey G. Lindquist, 28, of Crystal Lake: methamphetamine precursor conspiracy (Class 2)

• Matthew J. McDonald, 21, of Aurora: methamphetamine precursor conspiracy (Class 2)

• John A. Melvin, 33: methamphetamine precursor conspiracy (Class 2)
