Jordan Lynch finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting Dec. 14 with 558 votes, including 40 first place votes. Lynch was the first NIU player to be nominated for the Heisman Trophy.

Lynch is tied for the highest finish by a non-BCS player since 2007. He is the highest-finishing MAC player.

Lynch led all quarterbacks with 1,881 rushing yards, and he holds the record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single game. He’s in a group of only five players in FBS history to have 20 passing touchdowns and 20 rushing touchdowns in the same season, including three Heisman trophy winners.

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston won the award with 2,205 total votes, giving him the seventh-highest margin of victory all time. Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron finished second with 704 votes.
