Olympic medalist to visit campus

You don’t have to go far to experience the Olympics.
On Oct. 16 and 17, six-time Olympic medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee will visit NIU. Joyner-Kersee will speak to groups across campus and the community.
Joyner-Kersee has had a successful career. She won four medals in her time participating in the Olympics and also set a still-standing world record of 7,291 points in the heptathlon. In 2012, she was inducted into the IAAF Hall of Fame.
Joyner-Kersee will speak about her success and send out an inspirational message of perseverance at each of the events she will attend. She will talk to the Huskie track and field and cross-country teams along with other NIU athletes and women’s groups. Athletics will host A Morning with Jackie Joyner-Kersee at 9 a.m. Oct. 17 in the Convocation Center, which is a breakfast event open to the public.
