House fire causes $175K in damage
October 27, 2013
A fire in a DeKalb home Friday morning caused $175,000 in damages.
The DeKalb Fire Department was called for the fire at 2:47 p.m. and responders found heavy smoke within the house and fire on the back of the house. Firefighters attempted to enter the home to search for victims, but were unable to because there were holes burnt through the floors and structural instability because of fire damage.
Firefighters put out the fire from the exterior and learned from a source that the house was unoccupied before the fire. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Fire Department investigators, DeKalb police and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
