DeKalb’s city manager candidates have been named.

The search for a new city manager is being completed through Voorhees & Associates, Inc. Former city manager Mark Biernacki announced his retirement in February, and it was effective June 14.

The candidates are Rodolfo D. Espiritu, Roger W. Fraser, Anne Marie Gaura, Raymond B. Keller and Susan K. McLaughlin. Interviews are scheduled with the candidates and interview teams will consist of community members at large, council members and city staff, according to a news release from the city of DeKalb.

The city manager serves as the city’s chief administrative officer, managing city services and employees. The city manager is also responsible for preparation and management of the city’s $40 million budget, according to the city website.

The search process is expected to conclude with a hire in place no later than January 2014, according to the release.

Espiritu, a candidate for the position, has been serving as interim city manager since Biernacki’s retirement. According to a proposal from Voorhees, the first round of interview will be held Nov. 1 and the second round will be held Nov. 9.
