Comic shop makes move
October 30, 2013
Graham Crackers Comics has moved from its old location — but just barely.
The comic shop moved from its old location on 901 Lucinda Ave., where it had been for 14 years, to a larger spot just a few storefronts down at the same address. The spot was last occupied by a church but has been empty.
“We were suffering what you would call growing pains,” said manager Charles Fisher. “… [We] needed more space.”
Fisher said the store has products spread throughout the shop, but has newer comics upstairs and a gaming area downstairs.
“… It’s a sound investment for the future,” Fisher said. “So far with our expansion we are happy.”
The shop will offer a costume contest for Halloween, with winners receiving gift cards. There will also be free candy and a scary movie marathon.
“[I] never really have enough money to go to the comic book store a lot, but I like their new expansion,” said junior engineering major Joshua Jufko. “They definitely did a good job. [It] seems like a chill place with the gaming and everything.”
Graham Cracker Comics is part of an Illinois chain that started in Naperville.
“We are here because we love and enjoy comics,” Fisher said.
