Campus Police Report: Sept. 15-17

Sept. 15
• At 1:39 a.m., an officer went to Grant Towers North for a report of pot. The officer determined the report to be unfounded.
• At 2:35 a.m., an officer went to Lot X in regard to a report of criminal damage. The officer referred a person to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for criminal damage to property.
• At 6:06 a.m., officers went to New Hall West for a report of criminal sexual assault. This case is open.
• At 11:42 a.m., an officer in the NIU Police Department took a report of criminal damage. The officer determined the case is related to an active DeKalb police case and the case was referred to DeKalb police.
• At 7:42 p.m., an officer went to the Yordon Center for a report of disorderly conduct. The officer referred a person to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
• At 8:15 p.m., a community adviser at Neptune North observed damage to property. The damage was reported to housing officials.
• At 9 p.m., an officer went to New Hall West for a report of pot. This case is closed.
• At 11:06 p.m., an officer went to Stevenson Towers North for a report of unlawful use of a credit card. This case is open.
Sept. 16
• At 12:08 p.m. Sept. 7, an officer in the NIU Police Department took a report for credit card fraud. The complainant provided false information to the office.
Monday, a person was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for filing a false police report. The credit card fraud case was closed.
• At 11:38 a.m., an officer went to Neptune West for a report of theft. This case is open.
• At 8:47 p.m., officers went to Lot 21 for a report of suspicious circumstances. Officers met with people who were improperly in possession of and transporting guns that belonged to another person in their car.
The guns were returned to their registered owner for safekeeping. The people were given verbal warnings for violating the Illinois Firearm Owners Identification Act.
• At 11:13 a.m., a person at Neptune West reported a theft to a community adviser.
The incident was reported to housing officials.
• At 5:05 p.m., a community adviser at Neptune West met with people in regard to a report of battery. The incident was reported to housing officials.
Sept. 17
• At 7:53 p.m. Aug. 28, an officer went to the Recreation Center for a report of theft. On Tuesday, this case was closed.
• At 3:05 p.m., an officer went to Neptune West for a report of theft. A person was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for theft.
• At 11:38 a.m., an officer in the NIU Police Department took a report of theft. This case is closed.
• At 6:43 p.m., an officer went to Lot 38 for a report of domestic battery. The officer determined the report was unfounded.
