Tuesday
• At 1:28 p.m., an officer went to Northern View Apartments for a report of theft. The officer spoke with the complainant and took a report. The case is open pending further investigation.
Wednesday
• At 11:38 a.m. Sept. 16, an officer went to Neptune West for a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Wednesday, the case was administratively closed due to a lack of leads.
• At 1:25 p.m. on Sept. 20, an officer went to the NIU Police Department for a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Wednesday, the case was administratively closed due to a lack of leads.
• At 12:08 p.m., an officer went to Graham Hall for a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case is open pending further investigation.
• At 2:15 p.m., an officer went to Reavis Hall for a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case is open pending further investigation.
• At 2:44 p.m., an officer went to Grant Towers North for a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case is open pending further investigation.
• At 3:10 p.m., an officer in the NIU Police Department took a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case was closed due to a lack of leads.
• At 11:36 p.m., an officer went to New Hall East for a report of a missing person. The officer arrived on the scene and investigated. The officer determined the incident to be disorderly conduct. One person was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for Disorderly Conduct.
Thursday
• At 2:15 p.m. on Sept. 25, an officer went to Reavis Hall for a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Thursday, the case was administratively closed due to a lack of investigative leads.
• At 11:36 p.m. on Sept. 25, an officer went to New Hall East for a report of a missing person. The officer arrived on scene and investigated. The officer determined the reported incident to be disorderly conduct. One person was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for Disorderly Conduct.
• At 12:32 a.m., officers in the NIU Police Department took a report of theft at the New Residence Hall community center. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case is open pending further investigation.
• At 2:07 a.m., an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 400 block of Annie Glidden Road. During the stop, the officer met with a person who was under the influence of alcohol and younger than 21. The person was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for Unlawful Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.
• At 9:02 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Engineering Building for a theft report. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. Due to a a lack of investigative leads, the case was administratively closed.
• At 10:19 a.m., at the NIU Police Department an officer met with a person who had an active arrest warrant for failure to appear in court on a traffic-related offense. Brittany L. Smith, 22, was arrested and processed at the NIU Police Department. Smith was released from custody after posting bond.
• At 12:08 p.m., an officer met with a person in regard to deceptive practices. The person made false statements to the officer and filed a false police report. The case is open pending further investigation.
• At 12:51 p.m., an officer met with a person in regard to a theft report at Grant Towers North. The officer took a report and initiated an investigation. The case is open pending further investigation.
• At 1:21 p.m., an officer went to Anderson Hall for a theft report. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. Due to a lack of investigative leads, the case was administratively closed.
• At 3:31 p.m., officers responded to Annie Glidden Road and Crane Drive for a report of a theft. Upon arrival, officers met with parties involved. An officer met with a person who had an active arrest warrant for failure to appear in court on a traffic-related offense. Patrick W. Talley, 29, of DeKalb, was arrested and processed at the NIU Police Department. After posting full cash bond, he was released from custody.
• At 11:07 p.m., an officer on patrol met with a person who was younger than 21 and in possession of alcohol around the 900 block of Greenbrier Road. The person was given a verbal warning for unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor.
• At 11:42 p.m., officers responded to Grant Towers North for a complaint of pot. Upon arrival, officers met with a person who provided false information to them about his identity. David A. Downing-Neely, 20, of Chicago, was arrested for obstructing identification. A search incident revealed he was in possession of pot and drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. He was processed at the NIU Police Department and was released after posting bond.
