Flower crowns are trendy, easily made
August 27, 2013
It’s easy to finish the perfect outfit with a statement necklace, a stack of bracelets or even rings. But have you ever thought to wear a floral crown?
This summer’s hottest accessories at music festivals and weddings alike have been floral crowns. This accessory will give your outfit a soft feminine touch.
In 2008, Diane Von Furstenberg included many variations of floral crowns like boho chic and others with a rocker vibe.
According to Style.com the crowns gave the show, “The overall effect was on of unbridled optimism.”
Many celebrities rock this trend, including the Kardashian sisters, Ke$ha and Lana Del Ray. In addition, Katy Perry wore one at “The Great Gatsby” and “The Smurfs 2” premieres.
Now that school has started, you probably don’t want to wear a floral crown to class. I agree with fashion blog TrendHungry.com, which advises you to wear this accessory to a concert, out with the girls one night, to a party or a wedding.
Urban Outfitters has a wide variety of crowns. Some of the crowns are bold and dramatic while others are small and delicate.
Instead of buying a crown, it’s very simple to make your own. Stylist.com has a great how-to with just three easy steps to make one.
The only materials you will need are fake flowers, a headband, a hot glue gun and flower wire.
First, cut almost all of the stem off the flower. Then cut six inches of wire off, and wrap the wire around the stem. Leave an extra wire out. Finally, wrap the extra wire around the headband. Continue this process with the amount of flowers you want on your floral crown.
