A local tattoo artist may prove to be a master of his trade.

Chris May, owner of Proton Tattoo, 120 S. Fourth St., is appearing on Ink Master, a tattoo competition reality show on Spike TV. On the show, tattoo artists go through a variety of tattooing challenges to see who will come out on top and take home a grand prize of $100,000 and the title of “Ink Master.”

The first episode aired July 16.
