Blotter 4/4 – 4/6

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.

Wednesday

At 1:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the NIU Police Department to speak to a victim. The victim stated she got into an argument with her boyfriend and was struck in the face with a safe. Andrew N. Banach, 21, was charged with two counts of domestic battery.

At 1:46 a.m., officers responded to Sigma Pi, 1114 Blackhawk Road, for people fighting and trying to get into the house. Upon arrival, police saw several people outside yelling. The front window next to the door was damaged. The suspect was identified by the victim and a witness. Christian B. Seals, 21, was charged with obstructing justice, resisting arrest, battery, criminal damage to property, and failure to appear—keeping a disorderly house. Seals was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Janet L. Sitzes turned herself in on a warrant for forgery and was released on bond.

At 9:04 a.m., the DeKalb Fire Department responded to 846 Spiros Court for a medical issue. The suspect, Dominque N. Hopkins, 21, was transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital for treatment. Hopkins was found to have a warrant and was released from the hospital into police custody. Hopkins was charged with failure to appear—consumption of alcohol by a minor and was released on bond.

At 11:02 a.m., Erneice N. Moore, 22, turned herself in on a failure to appear warrant and was released on bond with a court date.

At 1:56 p.m., officers responded to a Hillcrest Drive residence for a domestic battery complaint. While en route, dispatch advised the male had left the residence on foot with a small infant. Upon arrival, the male and the infant were located nearby and returned to the residence. Officers spoke to both parties and witnesses. Joe D. Hymon, 20, was charged with two counts of domestic battery. Hymon was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

At 3:58 p.m., Antauwan L. Harris II turned himself in on a warrant for failure to appear—assault. Harris was released on bond with a court date.

Thursday

At 12:48 a.m., Peter P. Mabrie was charged with a failure to appear warrant and was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

At 12:44 a.m., following a traffic stop at 200 S. First St., James M. Hernandez, 33, was charged with DUI, DUI over .08, failure to signal when required and no insurance. The passenger, Gregory S. Davis, 38, was found to have a warrant and was charged with failure to appear—reckless driving. Davis was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

At 1:44 a.m., following a traffic stop at 1300 N. 14th St., Abraham M. Tavera-Chavez, 23, was charged with driving with a revoked license and was released on bond.

At 6:04 a.m., officers went to 1123 Lewis St. to serve a warrant. Marcel C. Rice, 25, was charged with failure to appear—contempt of court. Rice was released on bond.

At 7:19 a.m., officers went to 416 S. Fourth St. to serve a warrant. Fenton D. Byers, 60, was charged with a Kentucky State warrant for failure to pay child support. Byers was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

At 10:16 a.m., officers visited 912 Edgebrook Drive to serve a warrant. Kimberly L. Fickas, 27, was charged with contempt of court. Fickas was released on bond with a court date.

At 10:53 a.m., Nickolas C. Hunley, 23, turned himself in for failure to appear—disorderly house. Hunley was released on bond with a new court date.

At 1:19 p.m., the complainant reported having been followed for the last several months. Following an investigation, Brandon M. Graves, 20, was charged with disorderly conduct.

At 2:15 p.m., Todd W. McCaslin, 26, was charged with a warrant for violation of drug court. McCaslin was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

At 4:05 p.m., officers responded to Walmart, 2300 Sycamore Road, for a report of retail theft. Following an investigation, Crystal A. Kleppetson, 35, was charged with retail theft.

At 6:43 p.m., following a traffic stop at 100 E. Hillcrest Drive, Ebony M. Waters, 22, was charged with driving with a suspended license. Waters was released on bond with a court date.

At 9:23 p.m., officers responded to University Village Apartments, 1025 Crane Drive, for a report of a fight in progress. Dispatchers advised that one suspect had a knife and had attempted to stab someone. Upon arrival, officers went to the third floor and two females were arguing in the hallway. When the females saw officers they began pointing at each other and yelling. One of the females tried to attack the other and was restrained by an officer and her boyfriend. Shanitka Jackson, 24, was charged with assault and criminal damage to property.

Friday

At 3:22 a.m., officers received a call about a man screaming in the 900th block of Franklin Street. The suspect was Floyd Eugene Wright, 42. Wright has been involved in 14 similar reports in the last two months. Wright was on the property that he was evicted and banned from. Wright was charged with criminal trespass to property and was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

At 8:09 a.m., Jordan C. Hopkins, 20, was charged with a warrant for failure to appear—alcohol violation. Hopkins was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

At 9:26 a.m., a victim went to the Women’s Advocacy Center on the NIU Campus to report being battered. She was directed to the DeKalb Police Department because of where the battery occurred. Following investigation, Phillip N. Bagley, 20, was charged with two counts of battery and a violation of an order of protection.

At 1:24 p.m., officers responded to University Village, 1025 Crane Drive, for a report of disorderly conduct. Following an investigation, James Brewer, 24, was charged with criminal trespass to property. Brewer was released on bond with a court date.

At 2:28 p.m., officers were in University Village, 1025 Crane Drive, multiple times and each time Shanitka Jackson, 24, was yelling obscenities in the hallway and disturbing others in the building. Jackson was charged with disorderly conduct and released on bond.

At 7:51 p.m., officers met with a victim who said the suspect has been calling her from DeKalb County Jail. Phillip N. Bagley was issued a complaint for unlawful violation of an order of protection.

At 11:01 p.m., Glenn D. Ouellette, 61, was charged with violation of an order of protection.

At 11:34 p.m., officers responded to 732 N. Annie Glidden Road to serve a warrant. Demetric D. Starling, 26, was charged with failure to appear—possession of cannabis, failure to appear—trespass and criminal trespass to property.

At 11:49 p.m., following a traffic stop at 200 E. Hillcrest Drive, Eduardo Valor, 30, was charged with DUI alcohol, driving with a revoked license and improper lane usage.

Saturday

At 1:25 a.m., officers responded to a report of domestic disturbance. Both subjects involved were taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital. Following investigation, James R. Sheneman, 26, was charged with domestic battery.

At 2:07 a.m., following a traffic stop at 100 N. Second St., Thomas J. Wolff, 22, was charged with DUI, wrong way on a one way street and improper lane usage.

At 10:45 a.m., following a traffic stop at 100 Augusta Ave., Scott Lee Baker, 25, was charged with an original warrant for harassment by telephone. Baker was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

At 1:32 p.m., Frederick J. Harris Jr., 21, was charged with driving with a suspended license. Harris was released on bond with a court date.

At 2:54 p.m., officers observed a suspect driving at 1600 State St. Dispatch confirmed the driver’s license was revoked. Mathew D. Brown, 29, was charged with DUI, driving with a revoked license, possession of cannabis and no insurance.

At 3:28 p.m., officers responded to Walmart, 2300 Sycamore Road, for a report of retail theft. Following investigation, Stacie D. Miller, Channeka A. Gatson, and Ciara D. Gant were all charged with retail theft.
