The Midwest Museum of Natural History, 425 W. State St., will host a weekend of Earth Day crafts and fun.

On Saturday and Sunday the museum will teach participants how to make their own crayons and paper.

“We will be using the stubs of old crayons, the ones that usually end up in the trash, to make new crayons,” said executive director Molly Trickey. “For the paper we will be using paper recycled from the holidays.”

The event will take place during normal business hours for the museum. Saturday the museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

“We do something for Earth Day every year,” Trickey said.

The crafts are free with museum admission, which is $5 for children and seniors and $6 for adults. Trickey said the crafts will be best for ages four to 10 years old but all ages are welcome.
