The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
Wednesday, April 17
At 10:05 p.m., officers responded to 851 Russell Road for a domestic disturbance. Following investigation, Edcedric D. Williams, 22, was charged with criminal damage to property.
At 3:04 p.m., following a traffic stop at 800 W. Hillcrest Drive, Jerry L. Burton, 54, was charged with driving with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance and a warrant for driving with a suspended license. Burton was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
At 11:10 p.m., officers went to 925 Pappas Drive to serve a warrant. Shannan E. Mustafa-Parker, 25, was charged with failure to appear—obstructing identification and was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
Chanel C. McKinnie, 20, turned herself in on a warrant for attempt deception on a bank. McKinnie was released on bond.
Thursday, April 18
At 8:21 a.m., following a traffic stop, Joseph R. Markendorf, 60, was charged with driving with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle with suspended license plates. Markendorf was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
Gevonnee S. Pate, 22, turned herself in on a warrant for battery and a warrant for retail theft. Pate was released on bond.
At 4:52 p.m., officers responded to Walmart, 2300 Sycamore Road, in response to a retail theft. Dispatch advised the suspect was seen leaving in a Buick. Officers located the vehicle and, following an investigation, Cara M. Bevan, 30, was charged with retail theft.
At 10:47 p.m., a male flagged officers down in reference to a domestic battery in progress at a North Annie Glidden Road residence. The male escorted officers inside and advised that while he was inside with his girlfriend, the female’s ex-boyfriend entered the apartment using a key and began an altercation. The males went outside to fight and when they did the ex-boyfriend ran back inside and locked the door. The complainant heard his girlfriend screaming inside and feared for her life so he ran and contacted police. The female reluctantly admitted her ex-boyfriend broke her bathroom door, choked her, bit her on the chin, then left prior to police entry into the apartment. Akeem J. Jones, 20, was charged with two counts of domestic battery and criminal trespass to property.
At 11:18 p.m., officers received a phone call from a victim who was screaming and crying on the line. Officers arrive at the scene, 325 S. Pearl St., and separated the victim and the suspect. Both were interviewed and each reported the argument had been verbal and not physical. The victim said she became upset because she discovered the suspect had been having an affair. Neither appeared hurt or claimed to be. A LEADS check verified the witness to the dispute had a warrant out of Kane County. Maria L. Hernandez, 30, was charged with failure to appear—driving with a suspended license.
Friday, April 19
At 11:42 a.m., Joshua L. McIntyre, 37, turned himself in a warrant for failure to appear—phone harassment. McIntyre was released on bond.
At 10:31 p.m., officers went to 1330 Eco Park Drive to serve a warrant. The wanted individual, Jordan A. Lanum, 23, was not there. Officers, with permission, used the roommate’s phone to contact the wanted individual. Officers advised him of the warrant and he said he planned to turn himself in as soon as possible. At 11:20 p.m., Lanum turned himself in for failure to appear—driving with a suspended license and was released on bond.
Saturday, April 20
At 1:44 a.m., officers were dispatched to 500 E. Royal Drive for a vehicle that had driven off the roadway and became stuck on the walk/bike path at Hopkins Park. Michael P. Higgins, 42, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic notice and no insurance.
At 1:51 a.m., following a traffic stop at 900 W. Hillcrest Drive, Jonathan Andrew Hutchison, 22, was charged with DUI, DUI over .08 and improper lane usage.
At 1:56 a.m., following a traffic stop at 100 S. Annie Glidden Road, Lee H. Geyer, 22, was charged with two counts of DUI, no lights when required and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
At 10:48 a.m., following a traffic stop at 1100 N. Annie Glidden Road, Ibrahim O. Adelekan, 26, was charged with driving with a suspended license and possession of an illegal insurance card.
At 1:45 p.m., officers responded to a Crane Drive residence for a fight involving a knife, a hammer and possibly a gun. Upon arrival, officers found the victim had been stabbed in the arm. She was transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital and treated. Natasha A. Ware, 22, was charged with obstructing identification. Kiahini S. Simmons, 21, was charged with aggravated battery and was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. Lauren D. Croswell, 24, was charged with a warrant for possession of a controlled substance with intent and was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
At 11:48 p.m., following a traffic stop at 100 S. 11th St., Devin R. Taylor, 19, was charged with unlawful possession of an alcoholic beverage by a minor.
