Top 10 athletes: #10
April 24, 2013
The school year is coming to a close and it’s time to decide on the top 10 athletes of the year. The men’s tennis team’s Frederic Cadieux starts it off by coming in at No. 10.
Cadieux comes in at the 10 spot due to his contribution of helping the Huskies get into the MAC Championships. He plays the No. 2 and 3 spots for the Huskies. He posted a 9-0 record at No. 2 and an 11-3 record at No. 3.
He started the season strong, winning nine of his first 10 matches during the spring season. His first loss came at the hand of Craig Cox of the University of Wisconsin Green Bay in three sets, 2-6, 6-4 and 6-4.
After that loss Cadieux’s game didn’t diminish at all. He continued his strong performance all the way into conference. When the Huskies started conference against the Western Michigan Broncos (17-9, 3-2 MAC) Cadieux was 16-1. He finished the year 20-3.
Cadieux has been strong this season, and when asked about being named the number 10 athlete of the year, he was honored to be recognized.
“It feels great,” Cadieux said. “I had a really good season [and] great to have an honor like that, to be named a top 10 athlete. It will help my team to improve, and maybe next year [I’ll make] top five.”
