‘Grand Theft Auto V’ will refresh series

Rockstar Games has had a tremendous amount of success over the last decade.

Since 2001, it has released “Grand Theft Auto III,” “San Andreas,” “Grand Theft Auto IV,” some downloadable content and much more.

Sept. 17 “Grand Theft Auto V” will be released into stores. The question is: “Will ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ be better than the common favorite, ‘Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas?”

The answer is most likely “yes.”

Daniel Krupa from IGN.com had an article about the upcoming “Grand Theft Auto V,” along with five high resolution screenshots. The world of “Grand Theft Auto IV” with 1920×1080 resolution looks gorgeous. But somehow, Rockstar had their developers make “Grand Theft Auto V” even prettier.

Among those pictures is one which displays a man skydiving, and another shows a man scuba diving. In the older games, skydiving never looked so beautiful and scuba diving was impossible. Swimming didn’t first become a concept in-game until “San Andreas,” but you were never able to dive. Swimming could make for some interesting additions to the game, though.

“San Andreas” had the biggest open-world map of all the GTA games thus far, but Luke Plunkett from Kotaku.com said GTA V will be even larger. Plunkett said, “Like, bigger than ‘GTA IV,’ ‘San Andreas’ and ‘Red Dead’ combined.”

He later specifies that Rockstar didn’t say exactly how much bigger.

An interesting addition that “Grand Theft Auto V” will have is three playable characters.

Shunal Doke from Tech2.in.com described the background of the characters Michael, Trevor and Franklin. Michael is an ex-criminal with a family, Trevor is an angry ex-military pilot who lives in the desert and Franklin is a man in his 20s who is the repo man of a car dealership.

I’m sure whatever stories Rockstar pulls from its sleeves will be worth seeing. I am almost positive that the No. 1 thing that made “San Andreas” the fans’ favorite game out of the series is the cheat codes. These allowed the player to put nitrous oxide (N20) on every car; flying was a fan favorite, as well. If “Grand Theft Auto V” has cheat codes, it will be the best Grand Theft Auto game ever created. If not, it potentially would disappoint thousands of fans.
