Michael Jackson fans wont want to beat it after hearing the moon walker’s tribute concert today.

The Student Association is hosting History: Michael Jackson Tribute Concert at 7 p.m. in the Stevens Building’s O’Connell Theatre. The tribute will Jackson’s career in music, said Randiss Hopkins, junior education major and coordinator.

“There will be performances of some of his biggest hits and spectacular dance choreography,” Hopkins said.

Tickets are available online for $5 at bit.ly/Tf3CZ8.

“It’ll be different for the students to see a show of this caliber,” said Kittie Morris, junior dance performance major. ”There’s a lot of diversity in this show.”

Hopkins said the show will consist of more than 20 performances with singers and dancers along with a live band accompanying the performances. The concert will also promote one of Jackson’s core values of equality, Hopkins said.

Jackson always spoke about bringing people of all races together through song and dance, and that is exactly what this concert aims to do, Morris said.

Coordination for this show has been taking place since last semester, Hopkins said.

“Full-run show rehearsals have been underway for about a month,” Hopkins said.

A lot of hard work and dedication has gone into preparation for this concert, Hopkins said. Morris said this will be the first concert of this magnitude to take place on the NIU campus.

“This will be a unique experience for the NIU campus,” said Brian Quinlan, sophomore jazz studies major. ”A lot of on campus organizations are involved with the project.”
