Blotter for 3/18 – 3/23

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
Monday
At 1:07 a.m., following a traffic stop at 100 Franklin St., Kelly M. Gough, 24, was charged with DUI and operating a motor vehicle without lights.
At 1:08 a.m., following a traffic stop at 500 E. Roosevelt St., Francisco Y. Velasquez, 22, was charged with DUI, DUI over .08, driving with a suspended license, wrong way on a one way street, disobeyed stop sign and illegal transportation driver. Velasquez was released on bond.
At 12:39 p.m., following a traffic stop at 1000 N. Annie Glidden Road, Lanell L. Williams, 19, was charged with no valid driver’s license and no insurance.
At 5:37 p.m., the complainant reported that his friend contacted him via an email message and said a subject was in her apartment and would not leave. Officers responded to her apartment at 1004 W. Lincoln Highway and made contact with the victim. Officers then located the suspect at the BP gas station, 920 W. Lincoln Highway. Devon J. Etheridge, 20, was charged with violating an order of protection and obstructing identification.
Tuesday
At 1:32 a.m., officers responded to Steak ‘n Shake, 2380 Sycamore Road, because of a report of a suspect in possession of a fraudulent debit card. Brian P. Crawford, 22, was charged with possession of a counterfeit card.
Henry T. Mallin, 21, turned himself in on a warrant for residential burglary. Mallin was booked and released on bond.
At 8:09 a.m., a victim called 911 and said “get out of my house” and then hung up. Officers responded to a Regent Drive residence and spoke with both the suspect and victim. Following investigation, Marlow J. Harris, 19, was charged with two counts of domestic battery, obstructing identification, resisting arrest and unlawful consumption of alcohol. Harris was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
At 9:29 a.m., Deshawn D. Wooten, 19, turned himself in on a warrant for failure to appear—disorderly house. Wooten was unable to post bond and was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
At 3:11 p.m., following a traffic stop at 1800 S. Seventh St., Paula Cervantes-Mendez, 26, was charged with no valid driver’s license and no insurance. Cervantes-Mendez was released on bond.
Wednesday
At 5:26 a.m., officers responded to McDonald’s, 805 W. Lincoln Highway, for an intoxicated driver in the drive-thru. Following a traffic stop at 100 Carroll Avenue, Erica Garcia, 26, was charged with two counts of DUI, and improper backing.
At 8:02 a.m., officers were dispatched to a Gurler Street residence for a domestic battery that took place. The suspect allegedly pushed the victim down. Adrian A. Doak, 25, was charged with domestic battery and possession of cannabis.
At 8:49 a.m., Timothy D. McGowan, 23, turned himself in on a warrant for failure to appear—illegal use of credit card. McGowan was released on bond.
The suspect in a hit and run that occurred on Dec. 13 was located at her residence, 910 1/2 S. Fifth St., and was brought into the police department for an interview. Following investigation, Carmen Fuentes, 27, was charged with driving with a suspended license, failure to reduce speed to avoid accident, no insurance, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report. Fuentes was released on bond.
At 2:11 p.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance in locating a wanted fugitive, Jaunice S. Mitchell, 26, at 615 Lucinda Ave. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a resident and learned Mitchell was hiding in the bathroom. Officers located Mitchell in the bathroom, placed her under arrest and charged her with failure to appear—unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Mitchell was released on bond.
Thursday
At 3:48 p.m., following a traffic stop at 300 E. Taylor St., Adam B. Marks, 32, was charged with suspended registration, suspended license, no insurance and a warrant for failure to appear—DUI. Marks was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
Shalonda G. Williams, 21, turned herself in for an original warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Williams was released on bond.
At 10:27 p.m., following a traffic stop at 400 Short St., Viliulfo Romero, 51, was charged with no valid driver’s license, no insurance and expired registration plates.
Friday
At 3:06 a.m., officers responded to a report of a fight at 305 College Ave. Upon arrival at the scene, officers stopped a black Chevrolet leaving the 300 block of College Avenue. Following investigation, Devontae Wracher, 20, was charged with battery. DeJan Gugorevic, 19, and Alex Gutierrez-Renteria, 18, were both charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol.
At 3:00 a.m., Alex Gutierrez-Renteria, 18, was charged with theft.
At 3:29 a.m., officers responded to 901 W. Hillcrest Drive for a loud party complaint. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the tenant and advised him of the complaint. He provided an I.D. so the officers could document the incident and it was learned through dispatch he had an active warrant. Henry A. Robinson Jr. was charged with failure to appear—driving with a suspended license. Robinson was released on bond.
At 11:51 a.m., officers responded to Walmart, 2300 Sycamore Road, for a report of retail theft. Following investigation, John J. Dowjotas, 19, was charged with retail theft.
Jelani K. Sykes, 35, turned himself in on the complaint reference of harassment through electronic communication. Sykes was released on bond with a court date.
At 6:05 p.m., officers responded to 400 Maplewood Ave. in reference to a solicitor complaint. Upon arrival, two solicitors were located. Officers learned they did not have a city license to solicit and were previously warned about needing to register. Preston Shuttlesworth, 18, Dartrell L. McClain, 20, and Christian Washington, 21, were all charged with soliciting without a license.
At 10:43 p.m., following a traffic stop at 1200 Blackhawk Road, Taneisha L. Brown, 23, was charged with driving with a suspended license and stop sign violation. Brown was released on bond.
Saturday
At 11:22 a.m., following a traffic stop at 1100 N. 11th St., Juan Tellez, 21, was charged with no valid driver’s license and disobeying a stop sign. Tellez was released on bond with a court date.
At 1:11 p.m., Willie Pickens came to the police department on an unrelated matter. Officers advised him he had an active Kane County warrant. Pickens was charged with failure to appear—driving with a suspended license and was released on bond.
At 10:49 p.m., officers were dispatched to 800 N. 13th St. in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, the vehicle was located and officers made contact with two people. Christian Vazquez de Jesus, 27, was charged with DUI.
At 11:19 p.m., following a traffic stop at 1000 Arcadia Drive, Kiara L. Wicks, 23, was charged with driving with a revoked license, operation of a motor vehicle with expired registration and possession of cannabis. The passenger, Mercedes Moore Mauvolyne, 24, was charged with two counts of failure to secure child under 8 years old in child a safety seat.
