Blotter 3/27 – 3/28

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.

Wednesday

At 12:12 a.m., while an officer was traveling westbound in the 1300 block of Eco Park, the officer observed a couch that had been set on fire in between apartment buildings. The area was checked and no suspects were located. The fire department responded and put the fire out.

At 1:20 a.m., officers responded to 959 Fotis Drive an in attempt to locate a subject wanted on city warrant. The subject answered the door and was taken into custody. Darius W. Holloway, 19, was transported to the Police Department and processed, then released on bond.

At 3:06 a.m., officers made contact with a suspicious vehicle parked at 829 Greenbriar Road. The driver, Jessica Santiago, 19, was arrested for unlawful possession of cannabis. The passenger, Sage Gutierrez, 22, was arrested on a warrant for fighting in the city. An investigation was started.

At 11:01 a.m., Emilio M. Garcia, 21 arrived at the Police Department to turn himself in on the warrant out for his arrest. Garcia was booked without incident. Garcia posted bond and was released with a pending court date.

At 12:13 p.m., an officer observed a Dodge Durango traveling northbound on 11th Street from Pleasant Street. The officer knew the registered owner had no license and the driver matched the owner’s description. A traffic stop was initiated at the 700 block of north 11th Street. The officer smelled burning cannabis coming from the vehicle. Occupants told the officer they had smoked cannabis earlier in the day. The officer searched the occupants. The rear seat passenger, Hampton Stephens, 27, advised he had a joint in his right sock. Stephens was placed under arrest. Stephens was charged with unlawful possession and was released on bond.

At 6:15 p.m., an officer ran the vehicle registration for the vehicle in front of the officer’s car at the 100 block of north Annie Glidden Road. The registration was suspended for non-insurance. A traffic stop was initiated at the 1000 block of West Lincoln Highway. The driver said he did not know his registration was suspended. The officer ran the driver’s license through LEADS and found the driver also had a suspended driver’s license. Sheldon Ross, 21, was placed under arrest and released after Individual Bond.

At 11:21 p.m., an officer observed a black Pontiac traveling westbound on 700 Oak Street. The vehicle did not have a front license plate and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver said he did not have a valid driver’s license and did not provide an insurance card. An officer found out through LEADS that the driver possessed an expired instructor’s permit. Evan J. Mosley, 22, was charged with no valid driver’s license, no front registration plate and no insurance. Mosley was transported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Thursday

At 1:41 a.m., an officer was traveling northbound on the 700 block of north Annie Glidden Road, en route to a 911 investigation. A vehicle pulled out of a private drive, failing to yield to the officer’s squad car. The officer braked to avoid an accident. The officer activated emergency lights and the vehicle did not stop. After the officer activated the car’s siren, the vehicle turned into the parking lot of 7-Eleven, 930 N. Annie Glidden. The vehicle started to drive on the parkway; the driver put the vehicle in neutral and pressed the accelerator. The engine revved loudly and the driver put the vehicle back in drive and drove through the lot before stopping in the corner of the lot. The officer spoke with the driver and there was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy and the driver spoke with slurred speech. Pamela S. Wood, 44, was charged with DUI, DWLR, failure to yield-private drive, and no insurance.

At 10:03 p.m., an officer on patrol on the 100 block of Sycamore Road ran the registration of a vehicle. The registered owner had a suspended driver’s license. A traffic stop was initiated at the 300 block of Augusta. The officer advised the driver that the license was suspended. The driver said she had missed toll payments but did not think her license was suspended. Natalie Stasinopoulous, 23, was placed under arrest for driving with a suspended or revoked license and was released after posting bond.

At 5:05 p.m., officers responded to Walmart, 2300 Sycamore Road, for retail theft. A loss prevention employee advised officers that the suspect entered the store, selected items, concealed them and left the store. Lisa D. Zordan, 24, was charged with retail theft.
