New Kids on the Block returns to the music scene

By Beth Schumacher

Lyte Funky Ones (LFO) was right: New Kids On The Block did indeed have a bunch of hits.

Let’s discuss this.

Once upon a time, there was a boy band that created chart-topping music. This was a time before One Direction, *NSYNC and even the Backstreet Boys.

Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood shared their beautiful voices with the world, making it impossible to hate the bubble-gum pop sensations. These heartthrobs released seven albums and more than 50 songs–thus, the birth and growth of the New Kids On The Block following.

It should come as no surprise why their return is so exciting. Their new single “Remix (I Like The),” released Jan. 28, combines new and old sounds. The song is catchy; however, its just a teaser to subdue fans until the new album, “10,” comes out April 2.

It’s a very busy time for this talented group of men, but they’re not stopping at just an album release.

Although it’s been some time since the original boy band first stole the hearts of teenage girls across the globe, New Kids on the Block will hit the road for yet another tour–this time, sharing the stage with some familiar and missed faces.

Ladies and gentlemen, fish out your No. 1 fan band T-shirts and dust off that homemade cassette tape because The Package Tour will encompass all that is old-school boy band with performances by New Kids On The Block, Boyz II Men and 98 Degrees.

The summer tour kicks off May 29 in Uncasville, Conn. Tickets for the July 19 Allstate Arena show are now on sale.

Don’t think it’s too early because tickets have been on sale since the end of January and are going fast. Visit the website, NKOTB.com, for news, ticket information and other information.
