No injuries reported in apartment fire

A fire at 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday at 1626 Carlisle Lane caused about $70,000 in property damage, according to a news release from the DeKalb Fire Department.
The fire began in an electrical service panel in the residence’s basement near a laundry room. The crews responded to two explosions from the basement, according to the release.
The report was under control within 30 minutes and the fire was contained to the basement area. The DeKalb Fire Department was assisted by the Cortland, Malta and Sycamore fire departments, according to the release.
No civilians or firefighters were injured in the incident.
