Ellwood House to unveil new exhibit
February 3, 2013
A new exhibit in the Ellwood House Visitor Center, 509 N. First St., is being created to help visitors understand the impact of the Ellwood family on DeKalb, according to a Wednesday news release from the museum.
The exhibit, which is being funded by a grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation, will be designed to show off the architecture and history of the Ellwood mansion, according to the release.
Brian Reis, executive director of the museum, said in the release that the new exhibit will include a public tour which will allow visitors to explore the Ellwood properties.
The exhibit and gallery is expected to open to the public in May of 2015, and is being led in design by members of the Ellwood House staff, former director Jerry Brauer and members of the NIU Museum Studies Program.
