The following was taken directly from the University Police. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law. The University Police Department provides police reports on the Web at finfacil.niu.edu/PublicSafety.
At 1:12 p.m. on Jan. 28, officers were dispatched to the NIU Police Department in regard to a report of harassment by telephone. Officers met with the complainant and took a report. On Tuesday, an individual was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for harassment by telephone.
At 10:38 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Wirtz Hall in regard to a report of theft. The office met with the complainant and took a report. Later that day, the complainant recovered his or her property. The case is closed, unfounded.
At 2 p.m., an officer on patrol of the Stevenson complex made contact with an individual in regard to a report of theft. The officer took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.
At 6:46 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the Holmes Student Center in regard to a report of criminal damage to state property. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.
At 10:30 p.m., a traffic stop was made at the 900 block of West Hillcrest Drive. During the course of the stop, the officer discovered drug paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of drug paraphernalia.
