NIU student killed in car accident

Senior accountancy major Danielle Pisterzi died Saturday following a car accident on the Tri-State Tollway.

“She had a smile that could light the whole room,” said Katrina Collins, a friend of Pisterzi’s and a senior health and humans sciences major. “I know that smile’s gonna be shining down on us.”

Pisterzi was a native of the northwest side of Chicago and was active in the area, Collins said.

“She brought the whole northwest community together and proved that we’re all a family,” Collins said. “She touched so many lives.”

Pisterzi was driving home from an internship in Deerfield around 10:45 p.m. when her car struck another on the tollway, according to a Monday Chicago Tribune article.

Collins said she would like to organize an effort to create a poster for students to sign in memorial of Pisterzi, which would be sent to her family.
