Wednesday
On Tuesday at 8:24 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop at Russell Road and Crane Drive. The driver of the vehicle provided false information to the officer and fled from the scene on foot. On Wednesday, Michael B. Murphy was arrested in regard to a warrant for obstructing a peace officer. Murphy was processed by NIU police and released on $200 bond.
At 9:43 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the Music Building in response to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case was administratively closed due to lack of leads.
At 8:43 p.m., an officer on patrol in Stevenson Towers South made contact with an individual regarding cannabis. This resulted in the individual being referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 8:46 p.m., an officer on patrol in Stevenson Towers North made contact with individuals regarding alcohol. After refusing to cooperate, one of the individuals was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor.
At 10:08 p.m., an officer made contact with an individual regarding cannabis in Stevenson Towers North. The individual was then referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 10:39 p.m., an officer in the Stevenson Towers Community Safety Center was approached by an individual regarding a report of theft. The officer took down a report from the complainant. This case is pending further investigation.
At 10:59 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop at the 700 block of North Annie Glidden Road. During the stop, the officer found drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. The driver was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Thursday
At 12:30 p.m., an officer was approached by an individual near Douglas Hall. The individual wanted to file a report of criminal damage to state-supported property. The officer took down a report and an investigation was started. This case is pending investigation.
At 8:37 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop near Grant Drive East and Grant Drive North. During the stop, the officer noticed that the individual was under the influence of alcohol and under the legal drinking age of 21. The individual was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
