“Miracle Crops or Frankenfoods” will be presented by NIU’s Stem Cafe on Feb. 19.

Thomas Sims, director of NIU’s Plant Molecular Biology Center, will discuss the science behind genetic modification. Sims was part of a research team in the early 1980s that produced the first genetically modified plants. The event is free and open to the public and will be held at Taxco Restaurant, 223 W. State.
