Soup & Success series to hold time management event

It’s About Time! (Management) will be hosted from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday in the Illinois Room of the Holmes Student Center.
The event is part of a workshop series called Soup and Success, geared toward creating student-centered events and encouraging student success. Soup is provided at all events and students are encouraged to relax and interact with the speaker to get the most out of each event.
At Thursday’s event, representatives from the Counseling and Student Development Center will discuss the importance of time management and how to effectively manage time.
The next event in the series focuses on reading strategies; this will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 6 in the Holmes Student Center’s Capitol Room. Representatives from the ACCESS A+ Program will discuss reading strategies, strategic reading techniques and study skills.
Next in the series is the Public Speaking 101 event from noon to 1 p.m. on Feb. 12 in the Holmes Student Center’s Illinois Room. An NIU student and National Speech Champion will discuss techniques for speaking in front of large crowds.
Representatives from the Financial Aid and Scholarship Offices will discuss ways the two offices can provide financial assistance to students, from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 12 in the Holmes Student Center’s Illinois Room.
The final event in the series will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the Holmes Student Center’s Illinois Room. Representatives from the ACCESS A+ Program will discuss ways to overcome test anxiety and how to better prepare for exams to avoid anxiety.
