Orange Bowl excitement brings unlikely challenge

By Lindsey Rodriguez

Trent Eaves is not afraid to show his Huskie Pride.

The senior communications major decided to challenge that school spirit with a post on Twitter:

“If this tweet gets 1000 RT’s I will get a huskie tattoo’d on my butt,” Eaves tweeted.

Eaves took the time to answer a few of the Northern Star’s questions.

Northern Star: Why did you decide to post this tweet?

Trent Eaves: I was at my apartment with my three roommates, who are on the NIU football team. We were talking about going to the Orange Bowl and that’s when I decided to post the tweet.

NS: Do you have any other tattoos? When are you planning to get this tattoo?

TE: Yes, I have two other tattoos. One is ‘Hakuna Matata’ from The Lion King on my left shoulder and ‘Family is where the heart is’ on my right rib. I have to have 1,000 tweets before the bowl game, and if I do I will get the tattoo right away.

NS: Why are you putting the Huskie tattoo on your butt? Explain.

TE: Me and my roommates just thought we would do it there. They have been trying to think of a way to have me get a Huskie tattoo, so they just suggested I get it there.

NS: Are you going to through with it?

TE: Yes. If I get 1,000 tweets, I said for sure, 100 percent, I would go through with it. My roommates said they’d be there when I get it and take a [picture] for proof.

NS: Do you think everyone should be diehard Huskie fans? Why?

TE: Yes. They should always be fans, but especially this year because of how hard the football team works. Even if they aren’t football fans they should get into it for school spirit. I feel like the Orange Bowl will really help bring people to NIU.
