Lynch named All-American quarterback
December 4, 2012
Although junior quarterback Jordan Lynch was not named a Heisman finalist this season, he was named to the CBSSports.com All-America Third Team.
Lynch led the Huskies to a school-record 12 wins and NCAA’s longest winning streak at 12. He was a big part in the Huskies second consecutive MAC Championship and bid to the Orange Bowl.
Lynch garnered the award due to his league leading 4,753 yards of total offense and 1,771 yards rushing. Based on his stats, he was named the MAC MVP.
He set an NIU record for most total touchdowns with 43, breaking former quarterback Chandler Harnish’s record. He also broke Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson’s NCAA single-season quarterback rushing record with 1,771 rushing yards.
Lynch also holds the NCAA record for 11 100-yard rushing performances in a row by a quarterback. He has 12 games this season where he rushed for over 100 yards.
Lynch is also the only quarterback in NCAA history to throw for more than 400 yards and rush for more than 150 yards in the same game.
