Representative Randy M. Hultgren, R-Winfield, has been re-elected as the U.S. representative for Illinois District 14. Dennis Anderson, D-Gurnee, lost after Hultgren earned 59.1 percent of votes cast in the election. Hultgren published a release on his official Facebook page minutes after the election results were announced.
“I am humbled and appreciative for the support and faith that the voters in the 14th Congressional district have bestowed upon me,” Hultgren said in the release.
Anderson’s Campaign Manager Dean Argiris, said Anderson and his staff wished the results had been different but they do congratulate Hultgren on his win.
“He ran a good campaign,” Argiris said.
Argiris said Anderson has not determined what is in store for him next, but he is looking toward the future.
“He looks forward to working with him [Hultgren] to make sure the district is properly represented,” Argiris said.
