A retired Des Plaines police officer will speak about his work as the lead investigator on the John Wayne Gacy murder case at NIU, according to a Exploring Majors House news release.

Former Lt. Joseph Kozenczak will give the details of his work at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Neptune Central, Room 110. The event is hosted by the Exploring Majors House and is open to anyone interested in law enforcement, according to the Exploring Majors House.

Gacy was convicted of torture, rape and murder of 33 males between 1972 and 1978, according to the Exploring Majors House. Gacy was given the nickname Killer Clown because he visited parties for children as Pogo the Clown. Kozenczak arrested him, and he was sentenced to lethal injection.

Megan Kozenczak, graduate assistant for the Exploring Majors House, said Kozenczak remembers the case like it was yesterday and is looking forward to speaking to students.

The event is free and is open to all students, according to the Exploring Majors House. For more information, contact Megan Kozenczak at 815-753-2573.
