Lynch named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week
November 19, 2012
For the third time this season, junior quarterback Jordan Lynch was named the MAC West Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Huskies’ victory over Toledo.
Lynch was also one of eight quarterbacks to be named a Manning Award Star of the Week, which is the third time this season he has garnered that honor.
Lynch completed 25 of 36 passes for 407 yards passing and three touchdowns. Most of that yardage came in the third quarter, as Lynch completed 13 of 15 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns. Lynch also completed his longest pass of the season and his career, when he threw a 73-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Martel Moore.
On the ground, Lynch was just as effective, as he ran for 162 yards on 30 carries. By going more than 100 yards rushing, Lynch also extended his streak of consecutive 100-yard rushing games by a quarterback to nine, he broke the MAC record for rushing yards by a quarterback and he broke the NIU record for most 100-yard rushing games in a season.
Lynch totaled 569 yards of offense for the game, which broke former quarterback Chandler Harnish’s record of 519 yards of total offense in a single game.
Lynch also became the first quarterback in NCAA history to throw for more than 400 yards and rush for more than 150 yards in the same game.
Six different Huskies have won a MAC West Player of the Week award this season and the Huskies have won an award in 10 of the 11 weeks.
