Shoppers at Barnes & Noble, 2439 Sycamore Road, will be serenaded by the NIU Community School of the Arts (CSA) from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, according to a news release. The recital is part of the Book Fair program sponsored by the store. The money raised will be used to support the scholarship programs of the CSA.

More than 60 musicians currently enrolled in lessons with the community school will perform solos and in small ensembles on Saturday. Teachers in the program will also be performing.

The store issues vouchers for the event and shoppers are asked to use these vouchers when making a purchase at the store or on the website. A percentage of the proceeds collected will be returned by Barnes & Noble to the community school for scholarships.

Since the scholarship program began in 1993, more than 700 students have received scholarships to pursue their study of the arts.
