Library to host holiday events

By Northern Star Staff

The DeKalb Public Library will be hosting a series of events throughout the coming weeks to celebrate the community, holidays and reading.

The library, 309 Oak St., will be hosting events throughout December to encourage community members to read and participate in the city, according to a Monday news release. These events include a number of public story time events for children, craft making events and showings of Wired: The DeKalb Documentary.

The library will also host teachers who will assist children with their homework and tutor students in grades three to five.

The documentary showings will be held at 7 p.m. every Tuesday through February, with the next showing on Dec. 4.

A crafting event for children entitled What a Dear Reindeer will take place at 10 a.m. on Dec. 4 and 5 in the library’s Youth Services Department.

The tutoring sessions with a teacher will take place from 4 to 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 4 and 5. Participants should call ahead at 815-756-9568×250 to reserve a spot in any of the sessions.

More information on any of these events and others hosted by the library can be found at www.dkpl.org or by calling 815-756-9568.
