Secretary of State’s office wins award for awareness program

The Secretary of State’s organ and tissue donor public awareness campaign won top awards on Thursday, according to a Secretary of State news release.
Secretary of State Jesse White’s organ and tissue donor program was recognized during the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators Region III conference in St. Louis, Mo., according to the Secretary of State. The program won the Public Affairs and Consumer Education awards for top marketing campaigns.
According to the Secretary of State, White said he was honored the program won the awards. He said the real winners were the people who benefit from the program. Illinois has one of the largest organ and tissue donor registries in the nation, he said.
More than 5.1 million people are registered with the organ/tissue donor program, according to the Secretary of State.
