If you have an Xbox 360 with Xbox Live, you might have come across a few changes in the past couple of days.

Microsoft released an update for the Xbox 360 Dashboard last week. If you are one of the few who didn’t receive the update, don’t worry; Microsoft has been releasing the updates in small numbers to avoid a crash in their servers. You will receive the update in the upcoming days.

The update brings a couple of changes, but it is nothing huge like in 2008 or 2011.

The new dashboard has the same layout as the previous one, but it has more ads for games, TV shows and more on the home screen. It seems easier to navigate around the dashboard and find exactly what you’re looking for. For example, if you want to watch a movie, then just go to the heading that says TV & Movies. From there you will see ads about movies that are coming out and TV shows that are currently playing. In order to watch a movie, you need to download an app like Netflix or Xbox Video.

One of the features included in the update is one that fans of the console have wanted for a long time. Finally, there is a web browser that people can use on their console. I personally don’t know why people asked for this; I prefer doing web browsing on a computer rather than my console because it is much easier and faster. Nonetheless, the web browser is Internet Explorer, and overall it runs smoothly, from my experience. There is no problem with it other than it takes time to write the name of a website that is not featured on the main page.

Another change is that the Facebook and Twitter apps are no longer available. I believe they took out the apps because Microsoft expects people to use Internet Explorer in order to get access to the social media websites.

One final noticeable change is the My Pins feature on the dashboard. In this feature, you can place any games or apps that you like under the My Pins tab, and then you can access those games and apps from the dashboard. This reduces the time it takes to search for the game or app you want to use.

Overall, the new dashboard update is good. It makes it easier for the user to navigate around the dashboard with little to no confusion. There are more options that expand the entertainment value of the console, and it still offers a great experience.
