DeKalb leaf collection to begin on Oct. 15, alternatives available
October 11, 2012
Oct. 15 marks the first day of residential leaf pickup throughout DeKalb. Regular pickup will continue until Oct. 19, with collection times scheduled to occur between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Following the first week, DeKalb’s leaf pickup schedule will be divided into two separate dates for each section of the city.
The area to the South of Lincoln Highway, including the highway, will be serviced between Oct. 22 and Oct. 26. North of Lincoln Highway will receive service from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2.
Residents are advised to rake leaves the weekend prior to their scheduled pickup. Leaves should not include objects such as sticks, branches, or rocks.
For residents’ convenience, alternative leaf disposal methods are available. Landscape waste dumpsters will serve as disposal locations and will be located at the southeast corner of Seventh St. and Oak St., the City Garden Plots, 950 W. Dresser Road, and at Fire Station 2, 1154 S. Seventh St.
Waste Management will also pick up leaves during garbage days if the leaves are placed into open garbage cans or yard waste bags.
