Lynch takes home third MAC Offensive Player of the Week
October 8, 2012
After a career performance last week against Ball State, quarterback Jordan Lynch received a number of honors, including his third MAC West Offensive Player of the Week award.
An NIU player has won this award every week this season. Defensive end Sean Progar and safety Jimmie Ward both received MAC West Defensive Player of the Week in weeks one and two.
Lynch won the award in weeks three and four also, while kicker Mathew Sims took home the award in week five.
The junior posted 207 yards on the ground, as well as 195 passing in NIU’s 35-23 comeback win over Ball State. He ran for three touchdowns with a 12-yard run, a 29-yard run and a 71-yard run.
He threw one lone touchdown pass, being a 54-yard pass to Akeem Daniels.
On top of his MAC award, Lynch was also named one of eight Stars of the Week by the Manning Award and was one of six quarterbacks named as an honorable mention for Davey O’Brien Quarterback of the Week.
Lynch’s 131.5 rushing yards per game leads the Huskies and ranks him second in the MAC and eighth nationally. He is also the second-leading rusher in the nation as far as quarterbacks go.
Lynch also leads the MAC in total offense, recording 340.67 yards per game. That also ranks him seventh in the country.
