New day spa gives back to charity
October 23, 2012
A new spa in downtown DeKalb is offering free massages to those in need.
Dana’s Day Spa, 203 E. Locust St., moved to downtown DeKalb from downtown Sycamore this month. All services provided are done by spa owner Dana Baars.
“Consistency in quality and professionalism is always guaranteed since I do all the services exclusively myself,” Baars said. “Clients feel comfortable in the private environment.”
Privacy is a big factor in choosing a spa, said Junior Biology Major Farah Hussaini, junior biology major.
“I transferred to NIU last year and am not comfortable going to spas where men can just easily walk in,” Hussaini said.
The spa supports charities, as well. Dana’s Day Spa offers free spa services to families staying at Pay-it-Forward House, 719 Somonauk St. in Sycamore.
“Dana has been very generous by offering certificates for family members who get an opportunity to get a massage free of charge,” said Jea Nae Remala, Pay-it-Forward House executive director. “She also supports the Pay-it-Forward House through donating for the silent auction fundraisers. We are fortunate to have her in our volunteer core.”
