Marlon Moore wins MAC Defensive Player of the Week in debut performance
October 15, 2012
In his first career start as a Huskie, true freshman Marlon Moore was awarded the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week.
Moore started at cornerback after Demetrius Stone was moved to safety to fill in for the injured Dechane Durante.
Moore came up with two big interceptions in the redzone, as well as five tackles, in the Huskies’ 45-3 win against Buffalo. Moore played a big part in keeping the Bulls out of the endzone with those two takeaways.
Moore is the first Huskie to intercept two passes in the same game since Tyrone Clark did so in 2010 during his MVP season.
Buffalo had five trips into the redzone and the Huskies held them to just one field goal.
On the season, Moore has contributed to the Huskies with 19 tackles, including one for a loss and these two interceptions.
A Huskie has won a MAC West Player of the Week award every week this season, nine straight weeks dating back to last season. Five different Huskies have won this award already and three of them have come on the defensive side of the ball.
With this being the Huskies’ seventh MAC West Player of the week this season, they matched last season’s total already.
