Friday
At 4:33 a.m., an officer was sent to Stevenson North in regard to a report of harassment by electronic communication. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Friday, Tiara M. Hurdle, 19, of Country Club, was arrested for harassment by electronic communications. She was processed at the NIU Police Department and then released on a $300 bond.
At 11:55 a.m., officers were sent to DuSable Hall in regard to a report of battery. Officers met with the complainant and investigated the incident. One person was referred to the Office Community Standards for battery.
At 1:15 p.m., an officer was sent to the Campus Recreation Center in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case is administratively closed due to a lack of leads.
At 3:15 p.m., an officer was sent to Stevenson Tower South in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case is open pending further investigation.
At 10 p.m., an officer on patrol at Douglas Hall detected an odor of cannabis. The officer met with people in the room in question. The meeting resulted in a person being referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 11:27 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the service drive of the west side of the New Residence Hall Complex. The driver was determined to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. The driver was given a verbal warning for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia and was then released.
Saturday
At 12:50 a.m., officers on patrol of the 1000 block of Hillcrest Drive saw a person who appeared to be under 21 and in possession of alcohol. The officers met with the person and the meeting resulted in a person being referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor.
At 6:15 p.m., an officer was sent to the New Residence Hall Community Center in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.
At 10:33 p.m., an officer on patrol at Grant Tower North detected an odor of cannabis. The officer met with the people in the room in question. The meeting resulted in the people being referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sunday
At 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, an officer sent to the New Residence Hall Community Center in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Sunday, officers identified an offender and recovered the complainant’s items. The offender was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for theft.
At 1:45 p.m., an officer at the Convocation Center met with a disruptive person. Akinwale K. Omokaiye, 21, of Dolton, made physical contact with the officer in an attempt to gain entry into an event. Omokaiye was placed under arrest for resisting an officer and battery. Omokaiye was processed at the NIU Police Department and sent to the DeKalb County jail.
At 3:47 a.m., an officer on patrol at Lot X met with a person in a parked car. The meeting resulted in two people being referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor, unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of cannabis.
At 4:41 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the 800 block of W. Lincoln Highway. The driver of the vehicle, Oludemilade A. Osilaja, 20, of Evanston, was arrested for a DUI. Osilaja was processed at the NIU Police Department and then released on an individual bond.
At 8:42 a.m., an officer was sent to the NIU Police Department lobby in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.
At 9:15 p.m., officers were sent to the Stevenson Towers in regard to a report of cannabis. The officers made contact with a person in the room in question. The meeting resulted in the person being referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
