A strong-armed robbery took place at a field near University Plaza Tuesday, said NIU Police Sgt. Alan Smith.

Smith said a male student was robbed by three men at 7:33 p.m. The student sustained a small laceration to the head, as well as a bump. He was given medical attention but released after he refused transport to a hospital, Smith said.

No weapon was shown, Smith said. There is no description of the three suspects or direction of where they went after the robbery took place.

The NIU and DeKalb police are currently investigating the robbery, Smith said.
